Easingwold Town Council October 2019 Update

EASINGWOLD TOWN COUNCIL UPDATE

Welcome to the latest news from Easingwold Town Council.

  • Unfortunately, due to the very wet weather, work on clearing the bulrushes from the ponds and dykes on Millfields Wetland has been delayed.  As soon as we have a new starting date we will let people know.
  • Work has been completed on the separate permissive route for horse riders linking Millfields Lane to Penny Lane.  This will allow riders to safely access Oulston Road without having to negotiate Millfields Lane, Church Hill and Uppleby.
  • Work has been completed on a short extension to the path that goes through and around the Millfields wood (Jacko’s Way) to allow pushchair and wheelchair access to and from Penny Lane.  This path has proved very popular with those with mobility issues (see photos) as well as those with pushchairs.
  • Permission has been given for Churches Together to hold a nativity with donkeys and sheep on the Market Green on 7th December.
  • Permission has been given to hold a Toy Run in the Market Square on Sunday 24th November. Up to 300 motorbikes are expected to visit the Town at around 12.30pm and Toys will be given to The Clock, The Salvation Army and other local charities as well as raising funds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The Lions and local businesses support the event. Easingwold Primary School choir will also attend.
  • A £50 donation has been given to the British Legion towards the cost of the Town Band for Armistice Day
  • A £500 donation has been given to the Hambleton Branch of The Citizen’s Advice Bureau who provide important help and advice to Easingwold citizens based out of the Library.
  • The St Leonard’s Light Up a Life ceremony will take place on Wednesday 27th November when the Christmas Tree lights will be turned on.
  • We will be planting over 9000 crocus and wild daffodils on the verges over the next few weeks and volunteers would be much appreciated.  Please contact the Clerk if you or your organisation would be able to help.
  • We have agreed that Easingwold Green Spaces Group will fund and plant 16 native trees along the Northern border of the open recreational space at Millfields.
